Sarah Fritz and Fabio Fornezzi – Scenario C

The inspiration of the project Zusammenfluss is the course of the Steyr river, which flows through different landscapes, connects spaces, and repeatedly narrows and widens. These spatial qualities are translated into Schlosspark: connections become routes of movement, wider areas offer places to linger, and concentrated spaces become settings for encounters and cultural activities.
The centre of the project is a permanent pavilion whose curved form reflects the ideas of gathering and opening up. A self-supporting steel structure with a thin timber skin accommodates a stage, kiosk, seating and toilets, providing the basic infrastructure for different uses.
For events, the pavilion is complemented by a temporary system of interlocking metal frames. These can be arranged in different configurations, fitted with timber, fabric or netting, and stored compactly after use. This allows the Kulturzone to expand according to the size of an event without permanently altering the natural and historic character of Schlosspark.
