A Teaching and Research Project at TU Wien

Schlosspark Steyr has been an important venue for cultural events for many years. In the Masterplan Schlosspark 2045, a dedicated area of the park – the Kulturzone – was designated for cultural uses. Today, this space is primarily used for larger events such as Musikfestival Steyr, Grünland Festival and FM4 Unlimited.
However, smaller initiatives, associations and spontaneous cultural activities still lack the necessary spatial and infrastructural conditions. Against this backdrop, students and researchers from TU Wien are exploring how the Kulturzone could become more accessible, adaptable and suitable for a wider range of cultural uses as part of a teaching and research project.
Building on research, surveys and conversations with local stakeholders, the project develops different future scenarios and spatial concepts for the further development of the area.
This website documents the project and the work developed around the Kulturzone in Schlosspark Steyr.
