Kathleen Kinzel and Annabelle Obrikatis – Scenario B
Modora combines the ideas of a module and the Orangerie to create a new space for culture. The design is based on an initial analysis phase that included a questionnaire completed by local cultural practitioners. The responses highlighted a preference for timber as a building material and for a design that fits into its surroundings.
The proposal takes formal inspiration from the neighbouring Orangerie. At its centre is a stage, the only permanent built element, which can be opened or closed using a simple sliding system.
All other components follow a kit-of-parts approach: modules can be joined in a row, extended lengthwise and expanded in width using an additional element. Three interchangeable wall and roof modules allow for different spatial arrangements and appearances. The infrastructure can therefore accommodate various event formats as well as everyday park activities.
