Exhibition Invitation - Design for Adaptation 1

The final exhibition of the design studio opened on 26 June 2026 as part of the 45th Steyrer Stadtfest and Grünland Festival in the Kulturzone at Schlosspark Steyr. Architecture students from TU Wien present their visions and design proposals for the future cultural use of the Kulturzone in Schlosspark Steyr.

Design studios are a central part of architectural education. Through concrete design tasks, students learn how to plan and design buildings and public spaces. To do so, we deliberately work with real places and current questions. The results, however, are not to be understood as concrete building proposals, but rather as design explorations and contributions to an ongoing discussion that aim to reveal potentials and open up new perspectives.

During the Summer Semester 2026, the students worked on the “Kulturzone / Barocke Nordzone” designated in the Masterplan Schlosspark 2045. Since March 2026, they have carried out research and analyses of the site as well as of existing uses and future requirements. Based on this, teams of two to three students developed different future scenarios and spatial concepts for small-scale architectural structures and a variety of cultural uses within the Kulturzone.

The exhibition offers insights into these works and invites visitors to reflect on the potentials and possible future perspectives of Schlosspark Steyr. It remains on display in Schlosspark Steyr throughout the summer – we would be delighted if you stopped by to explore the projects on site.
